Understandably, you feel overwhelmed. You can barely get done what you need to in a day just to keep your clients happy. Answering email is enough of a challenge. How can you possibly fit in social media?
STOP – Ask yourself: What are you doing now to market your business? Do you currently have advertising in print media? What is the return on investment? How much does your yellow page ad cost? How many calls do you get based on these forms of advertising? Can people SEE you and your personality in a flat news ad? Or maybe it really doesn’t matter for your industry.
If you currently belong to a networking group, such as BNI, Rotary or Chambers of Commerce, capitalize on these as well as your website – you do have a website don’t you? Social networking should be an adjunct to all that you are doing right now. And one thing I tell all my clients – don’t just throw it at the wall and see what sticks!
You have to have a strategy behind your networking AND you have to be involved – at least to some degree. It is called social for a reason!
